Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) provides bachelor's and master's degree programmes, vocational teacher education, specialisation studies and other education.
The contents of education are described in curricula. TAMK's curricula are competence-based. The competence-based curricula define the competence objectives and learning outcomes of the degree and the studies. The competence objectives indicate the competence expected from each student. The learning outcomes indicate what the student knows, understands and is able to do as a result of the learning process.
The curriculum contains descriptions of all studies. The same course can be included in the curricula of different student groups and it can be organised several times, i.e. it has several implementations. All the course implementations are presented in the curriculum. Part of the course contents can change in different implementations (e.g. the language of instruction, teaching methods, evaluation methods, literature). The curriculum is designed in such a way that the contents that remain the same from one implementation to another are always shown. The contents that possibly change from one academic year to another are explained separately in the description of each implementation. The contents of the curricula are reviewed annually in cooperation with working life and student union representatives.
